Dr. Bryon Cloyd

Dr. Bryon Cloyd is committed to helping families experience improved health and vitality through natural health care and a wellness lifestyle. He has dedicated over 13 years of his life to mastering the art and science of chiropractic in order to accomplish this mission. He continually seeks out and trains under the elite masters of his profession so he can continue to better serve his patients.

Dr. Cloyd received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2003 from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA, graduating summa cum laude. His postgraduate studies include areas such as stress management, nutrition, gentle instrument-adjusting and wellness lifestyle coaching. He also has 20 years of experience as a, now retired, massage therapist and can’t help but bring some of these amazing techniques into his chiropractic sessions.

Dr. Cloyd is very service minded. He joined a chiropractic mission trip to Nicaragua in 2002, as a student doctor, and helped deliver chiropractic care to over 18 thousand people in four days. He also has donated his time to youth mentoring groups, and performed complimentary sports physicals for middle and high school students.

Dr. Cloyd came to Davis in February 2010 and has lived in Northern California since 1993. He loves the balance here of urban attractions and outdoor activities. In his spare time you can find him biking, hiking, kayaking and racing go-karts!

Massage Therapy

Ann Kelleher, Ph.D., Massage Therapist

In July, 2009, I completed a 100-hour Certified Massage Therapist course of training at the Massage Therapy Institute (MTI) in Davis, CA. The course combines foundational training in flowing, Swedish relaxation massage with additional techniques that can be used for deeper, more focused work. I have continued my training at MTI with a focus on styles of massage that apply to pain relief and sports training. Since the summer of 2009, I have enjoyed building a vibrant private practice and am now happy to be a part of the team at Gerner Chiropractic.

I use a combination of Swedish massage and focused work in each session, based on the style preferred by the client. I also check in with the client throughout the session to adjust the amount of pressure and time spent on particular areas of the body. My goal is to meet the needs of the client during each session and, over time, to find ways that massage therapy can help improve the client’s quality of life through such means as improved sports performance, pain reduction or stress relief.

I have been a member of the Davis community since 1997, when I moved here with my husband as he started graduate school. I began graduate studies at UC Davis in 2003 and completed a Ph.D. in linguistics in June, 2010. I am a long-time learner and second language user of Mandarin Chinese and studied the sociopolitics of Mandarin education in the U.S. We are both avid cyclists and members of the Davis Bike Club race team.

Massage and bodywork have been very helpful to me over the years as I’ve needed to manage pain and injury from rock climbing, cycling, and prolonged computer use. I also found massage to be a great help in managing stress associated with graduate school. I genuinely love the work I am doing as a massage therapist and hope I can offer others some of the healing benefits I have received through massage and bodywork!
